Sustainability
Sustainability is core to The Woodlands Resort's ethos and story. We have enhanced and managed the area which was previously left to disarray, and will continue to develop the land to encourage new growth and create new habitats for wildlife. Here are some of our other strategies which will be employed:
Wide range of renewable energy sources powering the site including solar, photovoltaic and ground source heat pumps

Showcase for eco-tourism

Lifecycle of materials, living walls, sustainable materials throughout, using natural assets to the maximum

Involving community renewables

Raising awareness of eco strategies used on-site among guests and visitors

Offer electric vehicles to guests to encourage zero carbon footprint during their Island stay

Local residents can charge their electric vehicles whilst visiting our cafe, restaurant and wellbeing facilities

Working alongside other local like-minded sustainable companies

Using vegetables from our own plantation for the restaurant and cafe where possible, as well as produce from other local companies

We have a strong list of Island supporters and connections who share the same sustainable ethos; all working together to raise awareness for a greener Island and promoting it as an eco-tourism destination.
The resort will work with a network of local businesses and we plan to relay to our guests where the supply chain comes from; the meat and produce, our environmentally friendly cleaning products, the material used on-site, and the power sources through our renewable technologies. We believe this to be integral to ‘The Woodlands Story’.
